$1.6million Snitzel Filly Sold by Silverdale

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 10

The last of 13 yearlings to sell for $1million or more at Magic Millions in Book 1 came late in the day when the Silverdale Farm bred and sold filly by Snitzel from their gold-plated mare Sweet Sherry sold for $1.6million.

The half-sister to Group II winner Eneeza was purchased by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds/Resolute Bloodstock and is the fourth foal of Group II winning Bel Esprit mare Sweet Sherry, who has been a super profitable producer for the farm.

The three previous three foals from Sweet Sherry have sold for $1.35 million (Snitzel filly), $1.1million (Exceed and Excel filly) and $775,000 (I Am Invincible colt) ad she has more in the pipeline producing a filly last year by I Am Invincible before going to Snitzel.

"We had to be patient all sale but we were keen to secure her. We saw the relation go through the sale a few years back and we were very keen to follow her through and we missed," said Adrian Bott.

“We weren’t going to miss this one. We organised a group together which includes John Stewart from Resolute Racing who has obviously made an impression this sale as well.

“This is the first horse we were able to partner with him and we feel it was the right fit with the quality filly at the sale to put up to him and race with him. I think it will be a great fit with some local partners.

“She’s a quality filly off a great farm and just looked the ultimate professional all sale and Snitzel obviously a champion stallion. She just looked a real classy, quality filly.”

The star filly is the fourth at this sale to sell for $1million or more by Snitzel, who produced the highest priced colt of the sale when the son of Humma Humma made $2.8million for Widden Stud.

Snitzel finished as the overall leading sire by average with 27 yearlings averaging $765,556.
