The weanling sale begins a huge week of breeding stock sales at Riverside, which also includes the Chairman’s Sale (Thursday May 8) and the Australian Broodmare Sale (Friday May 9).

This year’s weanling catalogue provides never-before-seen opportunities for buyers to engage with what is a hugely exciting collection of young horses.

The recent success – both on the racetrack and for pinhookers – emanating from the Australian Weanling Sale has been hugely significant.

Graduates like recent G1 winners like Kimochi and Hayasugi, this season’s G3-winning 2YO Field Of Play, high-class horses like Straight Charge, Master Fay, Brudenell, Coin Toss, Live To Tell, All That Pizzazz, Cardinal Gem, Strait Acer etc are but a few high achievers to emerge from the sale.

It has also been a pinhookers dream - out of last year’s sale alone are results like $60,000 into $400,000, $25,000 into $240,000, $150,000 into $420,000, $80,000 into $250,000, $180,000 into $350,000, $25,000 into $150,000, $35,000 into $160,000 etc, further highlighting the fact the Australian Weanling Sale is a one-stop shop, be that for pinhookers or buy-to-race clients.

The diversity in this year’s catalogue is extraordinary, with weanlings by 107 individual stallions, with the likes of Toronado, The Autumn Sun, Exceed And Excel, Dundeel, So You Think, Savabeel, Justify, Too Darn Hot, Farnan, Ole Kirk, Alabama Express, Harry Angel, Home Affairs, Bivouac, Stay Inside, Street Boss, Tassort etc joining the aforementioned Frankel, Snitzel, I Am Invincible and Zoustar.

Australian Horse of the Year Anamoe has four entries.

As always, the Australian Weanling Sale also gives buyers their first look at the new crop of first season sires coming through and this year’s catalogue includes progeny of exciting young stallions such as 9-time G1-winning champion Anamoe, Artorius, Best of Bordeaux, Daumier, Hitotsu, In The Congo, Jacquinot, Paulele, Sejardan, State Of Rest etc.

“We are delighted with how the catalogue has come together, with the Dorrington Farm weanlings complimented by lots like the full brother to Too Darn Lizzie and support of the sale by the majority of major farms and consignors in Australia,” Inglis Bloodstock CEO Sebastian Hutch said.

“The volume of weanlings and the variety of stallions and vendors represented means that buyers will be able to achieve all of their objectives at the Inglis Australian Weanling Sale in 2025.

“This sale has become an increasingly significant target for end users, which is understandable given the graduate success, and we look forward to welcoming buyers at all levels to Riverside for the sale.

“Very simply, if you are in the market for weanlings this year, it is a sale that you must be engaged with.’’

Supplementary entries for the Australian Weanling Sale remain open until April 24, as will entries for the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale to be held at Oaklands on June 12 and 13.
