MM National Weanling Sale Sire Break Up

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 21

First season sires are always hot property at these sales and there will be tremendous interest in the progeny of the three most represented sires in Anamore, In the Congo and Top Ranked (IRE), who all have nine youngsters catalogued.

Anamoe was the Australian Horse of the Year in 2022/2023 and went to stud for Darley at a fee of $121,000 making him the highest priced first season sire of that year, so vendors will not be letting go of his stock cheaply and the nine on offer include four in the Newgate Consignment.

Group I ATC Golden Rose winner In The Congo was the busiest first season sire in 2023 and his nine youngsters are all offered by different vendors.

Group I ATC Epsom Handicap winner Top Ranked (IRE) was well received at Raheen Stud as an Aussie G1 winner by the 2024 Champion European Sire Dark Angel and eight of his entries will be offered by Raheen Stud.

The overall sire picture for this sale has Newgate Farm’s Tassort as most represented sire with 14 entries and they are from his last crop of foals conceived at $11,000 before his fee was raised to $38,500 last year.

Tassort has delivered some amazing profits for his supporters with his yearlings regularly selling for 10 times service fee and at Magic Millions this year he had 12 sell at an average $205,833.
