Investing in Fillies Can Pay Big Dividends

Tara Madgwick - Friday May 30

We saw it earlier this month at Inglis Chairman’s Sale and we saw it again this week, purchasing yearling fillies that can perform to a high level has the potential to yield a big pay day in the sale ring, so let’s take a closer look.

Zougotcha was a $500,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Widden Stud.

Below are all the mares that sold for $1million or more off the track at MM National on Tuesday that were offered at public auction as yearlings with Written in Code the most expensive at $800,000 and Femminile the least expensive at $150,000.

What is interesting is that you don’t need a G1 win on the resume to sell for a million dollars or a lot more. Click on any mare name to bring up their Breednet page with all their form, news stories, yearling images, full sale details and tabulated pedigree.
