Progressive Mare Bred on Magic Cross

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 10

The magic Fastnet Rock x Galileo cross that has produced champion mare Via Sistina (IRE) was in the frame overnight in Ireland where six year-old mare Goodie Two Shoes scored a career best win in the Group III Stanerra Stakes (1m6f) at Fairyhouse.

A two time Listed winner at her previous two starts, the Joseph O’Brien trained mare made it three Black Type wins in a row as she scored by half a length.

Bred by Noreen McManus and raced by JP McManus, Goodie Two Shoes has been racing in great heart this year after having nearly all of 2024 on the sidelines and before that she was mixing her flat racing with several jump starts in hurdles and chases.

“In fairness she’s in the form of her life and I’d say fast ground is important to her,” said Joseph O’Brien.

“There is a Group II (Lillie Langtry) at Goodwood and we might look at going there next. It’s a logical step up the ladder.”

Goodie Two Shoes is the only winner from unraced Galileo mare Fits Like a Glove, a half-sister to Champion 3YO Colt and Epsom Derby winner Authorized

For the record the Fastnet Rock x Galileo nick has produced 121 winners from 165 starters so 73.3% winners to runners and the 31 stakes-winners represent nearly 19% SW to runner with 11 G1 winners bred this way and Via Sistina sits at the top of that list!
