A quality packed catalogue for the 2025 NZB Ready to Run Sale is now online and in the lead up to the sale we’ll go looking each week for some horses of interest that jump out on pedigree for various reasons.

One of the most interesting winners from last weekend was emerging stayer Revelare, who booked his place in this year’s Melbourne Cup when winning the Group III VRC Archer Stakes (2500m) at Flemington.

The 64th stakes-winner for the great champion So You Think (NZ), Revelare is bred on one of the most successful nicks for his dual Cox Plate winning sire. He is the seventh stakes-winner for So You Think bred from a daughter of Zabeel joining the likes of Group I winners Think It Over and Nimalee.

The So You Think x Zabeel nick runs at 16.6% SW to runner.

The nick appears once in the upcoming sale as Lot 249 from Lillywhites Lodge, a colt by So You Think from Zabeel mare Buccellati.

He is the third foal of Buccelati, a winning full sister to stakes-winner Turner Bayou from the family of Group I VRC Turnbull Stakes winner Devil Moon.

Swettenham Stud announced the withdrawal from service of outstanding sire Toronado (IRE) at the start of spring which can only increase demand for his progeny, who have made a huge impact in Hong Kong where he appears poised to take over from Deep Field as the top sire for the region.

There are seven colts and geldings by Toronado catalogued and all will be coming under close consideration with one in particular bred on a nick with a great track record!

Lot 408 gelding Keltara – Riversley Park

Brother-in-blood to Group placed SW Laced Up Heels, a winner of over $400,000 in prizemoney. Half-brother to four winners from a winning half-sister by Exceed and Excel to SW Missy Cummings, the dam of G1 winner Mizzy and G3 winner She’s Got Pizzazz.

This gelding is bred on the Toronado x Exceed and Excel nick that has produced 19 winners from 24 runners (79% winner to runner) highlighted by two SW’s and two more stakes-placed horses.

Below is the full list of Toronado 2YOs catalogued for sale:
