One to Watch – Hawkesbury

Tara Madgwick - Thursday September 25

Richard Johnston has bred some very good horses under his Bylong Park banner including triple Group I winner Think It Over and an Anders three year-old he bred and races was an eye-catching debut winner at Hawkesbury on Thursday.

Trained by Brad Widdup and ridden by Dylan Gibbons, Young Mister Grace was a hot favourite for the 1000m maiden and duly won as he pleased.

Young Mister Grace stalked the pace and took over with a furlong to run, skipping clear to win by more than three lengths in a slick 56.69 seconds.

Young Mister Grace is the first foal from Zoustar mare Enstarnito, who was also bred by Bylong Park and raced just once before retiring to stud, but to this point Young Mister Grace is her only living foal.

Further back in the pedigree is quality European blood with third dam Encens a half-sister to Group I winning sire Scenic (IRE), who was very successful in Australia producing Group I winners over all distances from Melbourne Cup winner Viewed to Royal Ascot winning G1 sprinter Scenic Blast.

Young Mister Grace looks a progressive winner for Widden Stud’s young sire Anders, who stands at a fee of $13,200 this spring.
