$950,000 I Am invincible Colt to Ciaron Maher

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday January 13

Group II winning mare Alassio has had a chequered passage since retiring to stud at Silverdale Farm in 2019, but persistence paid dividends when her second living foal, a colt by I Am Invincible, sold for $950,000 at Magic Millions on Tuesday.

Consigned in the Silverdale Farm draft, the handsome bay colt was purchased by Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/ David Redvers Bloodstock.

$950,000 I Am Invincible colt from Alassio.

“He was a horse that Sheikh Fahad (Al Thani, Qatar Racing) particularly liked. We all loved him. We all know about the stallion and the mare’s a Group 2 winner, so he fits what we’re looking for,” said David Redvers, a regular visitor to Australia from the UK.

“We’ve got another very nice I Am Invincible with Ciaron called Invicto (a $600,000 purchase from this sale last year).”

Redvers believes he has found value in purchasing early in the sale.

“Just nice and early in the sale I thought he was probably a bit of value because he’s early in the sale, compared to what the same horse tends to make halfway through Day 2, so we’re happy to have him,” he said

“He’s just incredibly athletic. He’s got a huge amount of presence, I love the fact he was totally unflappable out there, he seems to have a very good mind, but for me, with the action and the athletic build of the horse, he was a real standout.”

By Fastnet Rock’s G1 winning son Foxwedge from stakes-winner Cinque, Alassio missed in 2024, so had no foal last spring, but fingers crossed appears to be in foal to I Am Invincible now on an early September cover.
