The release of third declarations for the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes next month has Widden Stud’s fairytale colt Unit Five still in the mix after his brilliant win in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, but next week the focus for Team Widden turns to Inglis Classic.

The Ciaron Maher trained son of Supido is now two for two and Widden Stud’s Matt Comerford confirmed the colt has pulled up well from his Gold Coast escapade and the Blue Diamond is very much on the radar.

Unit Five has been back in light work in Sydney since his memorable victory and is scheduled to go back to Melbourne in the coming week as he prepares for the G1 Blue Diamond (1200m) on February 21 at Caulfield, where he won his debut on December 20.

Unit Five is not the only stakes-winning juvenile to emerge from Widden Stud this season with the Paul Murray trained Trapeze Artist filly Where’s the Circus winning the $500,000 Inglis Nursery (1000m) on debut last month.
