Capitalist Winners Keep Coming

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday February 25

Capitalist is setting the pace at the top of the leading sire by Australian winners list and added a 125th winner for the season at Rosehill on Wednesday when Hay Street saluted in the Triple Crown syndications colours.

Trained by Annabel and Rob Archibald, Hay Street was overdue for a win after posting three second placings in his previous five starts as well as some more than respectable efforts in Group races last year won by North England and Jimmy Recard.

Sent out a hot favourite for the 1200m maiden with James McDonald on board, the champion jockey rode a positive race to press forward from the jump.

Hay Street kicked on to win by a length and can no doubt progress from here.

“James took luck out of the equation and made all in front and the winner of the first race did the same so maybe it’s going to be a bit like that here today, but I thought he did a good job and was strong late,” said rob Archibald.

“Hopefully that will give him a bit of confidence and he is a nice horse in the making.”

Hay Street was a $95,000 Inglis Ready 2 Race purchase for Triple Crown Syndications from the Glenn Haven Thoroughbreds draft having been sourced from Newgate Farm at Inglis Classic for $80,000.

Bred by Lightning Thoroughbreds, he is a half-brother to Group placed Blazerro and stakes-placed Ringmaster being the sixth winner from six to race from Blazing Snitzel, a metro winning half-sister to stakes-winner Excuse My French.
