A new addition at Mount Brown International in Victoria this spring after serving previously at Princes' Farm, Australian Derby winner Roman Emperor has died unexpectedly.

Roman Emperor"It's with a heavy heart and sadness that the the team at Mount Brown International mourn the passing of Roman Emperor from an aneurysm," said Lester O'Grady on his Facebook page.

"Our condolences go out to the owners. Although he was only at Mount Brown International for a short period of time we will miss the spunk and cheekiness he brought to the farm. Enjoy the other side of the rainbow big guy."

A Group I wining son on of Montjeu (IRE) trained by the late Bart Cummings, Roman Emperor is the sire of 21 winners headed by stakes-winner Emperor's Way.
