Star Sprinter for Denman

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 22
Lonhro's Group I wining son Denman is one of the quiet achievers on the Darley NSW roster, but has a star on the rise in exciting Hong Kong trained four year-old Hot King Prawn, who made it eight wins from nine starts when taking out the Group II Premier Bowl at Sha Tin on Sunday.

Hot King Prawn -HKJCTrained by John Size and ridden by Sam Clipperton, Hot King Prawn found the front and led throughout to beat some of the best sprinters in Hong Kong taking the 1200 metre sprint by more than a length in a slick 1:08.23.

"I've had some special moments back home in Australia but to ride my biggest winner in Hong Kong is a great buzz and I feel very privileged," said Sam Clippetson.

"It's great to be able to repay the faith of a loyal supporter like John Size. I've only had a handful of winners for him but he keeps putting me on. I've had three Group 1 seconds for him and he's taken me to Japan so it's great to get a victory like this under our belts together."

Hot King Prawn was a $90,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Aquanita Racing from the Torryburn Stud draft and was bred and sold by Torryburn. He is a half-brother to four other winners including Group III winner Siren's Fury being from Unbridled's Song (USA) mare De Chorus, a daughter of stakes-winner Val de Grace.

De Chorus has a two year-old colt by Your Song called Deauville, a yearling filly by The Factor (USA) and was covered last spring by Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.

Hot King Prawn is one of the 12 stakes-winners for Denman, who stands at Darley Hunter Valley at a fee of $8,800.
