Back to Back MM Trophy Wins for Tumultuous

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 12
Champion trainer Chris Waller knows horses for courses, his handy stayer Tumultuous started 2018 with a win in the $1million Magic Millions Trophy (2200m) and 12 months later was able to return to the Gold Coast and win it again.

Tackling this assignment at his fourth run back from a spell, Tumultuous (images Steve Hart ) was strong to the line for Robbie Fradd and won by a neck taking his overall record to six wins and six placings from 34 starts with prizemoney topping $1.4 million.

Tumultuous returns a winner again!"He won it last year and we set him to win it again right back then. So why wouldn't we set it for the same race yet again," Chris Waller said.

"One thing the pressure will be a lot less next time. He has won since, but not done much and he is a summer horse.

"But this meeting is great for everyone involved and it is a pleasure to win a race."

A $350,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Willow Park draft, Tumultuous runs for a big group of Waller stable clients including Noel Greenhalgh and Segenhoe Thoroughbreds.

He is a half-brother to Group I TC Australian Oaks winner Rena's Lady, Group II winner Vatuvei and Group III winner Raise being from grand producing stakes-winner Boisterous Lady, who died in 2013 with Tumultuous his final foal.

Champion sire Fastnet Rock has been popular at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale during the first three sessions with 15 yearlings averaging $389,000.
