gavelhouse.com graduate shooting for Black-Type next

Media Release - Tuesday April 16
Makfi mare Moyrabellaproved once again her determination to win, adding a fifth victory in superb style at Wingatui last week.

MoyrabellaTrained by Terri Rae, the now five-year-old is proving a rewarding purchase for the syndicate having returned $57,840 to her new connections in the 13 starts since her purchase online in April 2017 for $26,000.

Jumping from the widest barrier with Chris Johnson in the saddle on Thursday, the pair were three wide without cover for most of the trip. Moyrabella kicked out of the corner and began to run down the leader with the favourite close on her heels, to win by a half-length.

"The track was right up her ally, she loves the cut in the ground like that," commented purchaser and co-owner Greg Taylor.

"It was a great paying performance and she has been an outstanding mare to us. With 13 starts and five wins it doesn't get much better than that."

"She has pulled up well and came home and ate all her dinner."

"Our target now with her is the Listed race at Riccarton in three weeks' time on the 4 May over 1400m and a bit more rain and cut in the ground would be ideal."

"Moyrabella is the only horse we have racing at the moment, so it's great for us to come out with a win."

The latest gavelhouse.com New Zealand auction is online now with the 91-Lot catalogue featuring unreserved in-foal mares from Nearco Stud as part of a stock reduction. Bidding is set to close from 7pm on Monday 15 April.
