Sidestep Winner Brings Joy to Breeder

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 10
Tamworth based owner breeder Errol Leicht has had a lot of success with his broodmare Time Release and she made it four winners from four foals to race when her two year-old filly by Sidestep scored her first win at Grafton on Wednesday.

In a Step learned to run early at the side of her mum Time ReleaseA half-sister to Leicht's smart stakes-winner In a Wink, who won over $200,000 in prizemoney, In a Step is trained at Coffs Harbour by Brett Dodson and won the $40,000 country maiden by half a length as favourite.

Placed at her first three starts, In a Step flew the gates after jumping from a wide draw and led all the way to score a crowd pleasing win.

Retained to race by Gwen and Errol Leicht, In a Step has won over $36,000 in prizemoney to date and keeps the record of her dam Time Release perfect as a producer with four to race all winners.

As you can see in this picture sent into the Breednet Foal Gallery in 2016, Time Release teaches her babies to run!

In a Step is the sixth Australian winner for Darley bred Exceed and Excel stallion Sidestep, who will be crowned Champion Australian First Season Sire of 2019 with his offspring headed by Golden Slipper winner Kiamichi.

He has also had success in the Northern Hemisphere with his first runners this year siring French stakes-winner Real Appeal and three other winners in France.

Now standing at Telemon Thoroughbreds in Queensland, Sidestep is priced this spring at $22,000
