Impressive Debut win for Pierro 2YO

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 3

Blue-blooded Pierro colt Untamed kicked off his career with a stylish debut victory on Friday night at Canterbury carrying the China Horse Club colours.

Untamed as a yearlingPrimed for his debut with a recent barrier trial win, the Peter and Paul Snowden trained colt was sent out favourite and although made to work in the run showed his class over the concluding stages.

Under hands and heels riding from Kerrin McEvoy, Untamed surged clear to win the 1250m maiden by a length.

Autumn stakes goals are no doubt ahead for this talented colt, whose sire Pierro swept the 2YO Triple Crown in 2012 winning Golden Slipper, Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes.

A $450,000 Magic Millions purchase from the late Paul Whelan’s Luskin Park draft for China Horse Club/Newgate Bloodstock, Untamed runs for a big syndicate of investors that also includes his breeders.

He is the third winner from three foals to race from unraced Fastnet Rock amre She’s a Wildcat, a full sister to Group I winner and sire Foxwedge as well as stakes-winner She’s a Fox.

Middlebrook Valley Lodge as agent will offer the current yearling from She’s a Wildcat, a filly by Flying Artie, as Lot 761 at Magic Millions 2020.
