$700 Expedition Puts on an Exhibition

Media Release - Thursday February 20

A $700 gavelhouse.com buy is the second winner in a space of weeks for Tapanui-based trainers Nikki and Barrie Blatch bought off the online auction site.

Expedition produced a smart front running display to win by two and three-quarter lengths over 1200m at Southland on Saturday and in ten starts for her new connections has managed to finish in the top five on six occasions and has won twice.

Expedition makes his owners happy!“She’s a great little horse and a bit of a surprise package,” offered owner-trainer Nikki Blatch.

The daughter of He’s Remarkable was bought online in May 2019 by co-owner Richard Collier and has since $29,560 for the stable with the plan to step out again later this month.

“We thought she might be one run short as with the weather down here she had missed some work.

“She is also better suited to a 1400m trip so to win on Saturday was a real surprise.

“She has come through the race well and next up we are aiming for the feature meeting at Wingatui on 29 February.”

Meanwhile the stable’s other gavelhouse.com buy Mr Intelligence (NZ) (Niagara) remains in work having failed to place on Saturday following a smart performance at his first attempt at stakes company earlier this month.

“Mr Intelligence will also head to Wingatui on 29 February for a Rating 82 2200m race,” commented Blatch.

“Longer term we are looking at either the Riverton Cup or Canterbury Gold Cup in April but this is all reliant on the tracks staying firm.”

At the same meeting, fellow gavelhouse.com graduate Quintuple Twins extended her winning streak to five just a week after her last victory. Trained by John and Karen Parsons, the daughter of Sebring was purchased for $7,250 in September last year and has now earnt $69,745 for her new connections.

The last fortnightly gavelhouse.com auction posted an 85% clearance rate across 71 Lots entered and a top price of $41,000. Entries for the next sale are due online by 7pm Monday 24 February. get in touch with the team on 09 296 4436 or email info@gavelhouse.com if you have any questions.
