Waikato Stud’s champion sire Savabeel is edging closer to his century of stakes-winners with his handy staying mare Missybeel turning in a career best performance to win the Group III ATC Epona Stakes (1900m) at Rosehill on Slipper Day.

The Bjorn Baker trained five year-old was strong to the line, edging out a determined Gayatri to win by a head, taking her overall record to six wins and seven placings from 32 starts with prizemoney just shy of $300,000.



Missybeel returns a stakes-winner!A $210,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Waikato stud draft for Bjorn Baker Racing/ Blandford Bloodstock, Missybeel runs for a big group of stable clients, who now have a valuable broodmare prospect on their hands following her Group III victory.

Missybeel is the best of two winners from Sitting Pretty, a half-sister by O’Reilly to multiple Group I winner Metal Bender.

The 99th stakes-winner for Savabeel, she is the 14th stakes-winner for him bred from a daughter of O’Reilly.

The nick runs at 12.2% stakes-winners to runners and has produced Group I winners Costume, Savaria, Diademe and Embellish.
