Best On Breeding

Mark Smith - Thursday January 28

It is another sensational day of action for the two-year-olds on Saturday with the nominal Golden Sipper favourite Enthaar dominating the betting in the Group III Chairman's Stakes at Caulfield while Rosehill hosts intriguing renewals of the Group III Widden Stakes and  Group III Canonbury Stakes.

The first season stallions have been enjoying a great run of late, but the sale companies pin-up boy I Am Invincible looks set to dominate the Canonbury Stakes  (1100m) with two top chances.

Looking at their respective ownership groups, Construct and Home Affairs were purchased with an eye to their post-race careers.

The $650,000 yearling purchase Construct was out early finishing second in the Group III Breeders' Plate at Randwick last October. He took ground off the winner Shaquero, and that son of Shalaa (IRE) franked the form in the Magic Millions 2yo Classic.

Carrying the all navy silks of Coolmore Stud, Home Affairs is making his career debut.

Home Affairs an $875,000 Easter yearling

Chris Waller does not usually send his babies into battle with just one barrier trial. Still, Home Affairs looked ready to go judging on his barrier trial win at Rosehill on January 15.

The bold-striding son of I Am Invincible, showed natural speed to take up the running and was allowed to cruise to the line in the fastest time of the morning.

Consigned by Torryburn Stud to the 2020 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Home Affairs was knocked down to Tom Magnier for $875,000.

A fair bit of money for sure but still the least expensive of the three I Am Invincibles purchased by Magnier at the sale.

They were headed by the $1.4 million Twilight Royale colt and the $1.1 million Captivating Claire filly.

The Twilight Royal colt has been named Montenegro and is also in the Waller stable.

The Captivating Claire filly has been named Bewitchingly and is with Anthony & Sam Freedman.

Home Affair's Value possibly increased before he set foot on the track.

He is the second foal of the Flying Spur mare Miss Interiors who was purchased for $625,000 by the Belmont Bloodstock Agency (FBAA).

She was carrying her first foal, a colt by Deep Field who was consigned by Torryburn Stud to the Magic Millions Gold Coast yearling sale where Shadwell Stud purchased him for $260,000.

Named Aysar and sent to Lindsy Park, the son of Deep Field won at Sandown at two.

He kickstarted his 3yo campaign last spring with another win at Sandown and went down fighting to Ole Kirk in the Group 1 Caulfield Guineas.

Spelled after finishing second in the Group III Carbine Club Stakes on VictoriaDerby Day last October, Aysar has been rated a $3.40 chance to make a successful 2021 debut in Saturday's Group III Manfred Stakes at Caulfield.

Aysar wins at Sandown

Miss Interiors ticks all the boxes to make a successful broodmare.

A daughter of the excellent broodmare stallion Flying Spur, Miss Interiors was a $120,000 yearling. She won half of that back on the track with three wins.

As can be gauged by her price as a broodmare, there has been plenty happening in the family.

Her year younger half-sister Turbo Miss came out and won the Group III Frances Tressaday Stakes.

The following year's significant upgrade came when her son Russian Revolution (Snitzel) claimed his spot mong the nations top sprinters with Group 1 wins in the ATC Galaxy and MRC Oakleigh Plate.

Inbred 4s x 4d to the great mare Fanfreluche, Miss Interiors is out of the imported Stravinsky (USA) mare Ballet D'Amour (USA) who is still producing the goods for Belinda Batemen.

The daughter of Stravinsky (USA) has a 2yo Redoute's Choice filly named Danserai D'Amour who is in training with Richard and Michael Freedman.

She has a yearling sister to Russian Revolution,in the Newgate Farm draft heading to the Inglis Australian Easter Sale.a filly foal by I Am Invincible and was covered by Snitzel again last spring.

Meanwhile, it is her daughter Miss Interiors who is in the limelight.

She has a yearling colt by Capitalist also heading tio the Inglis Easter Sale, a colt foal by Dundeel and is back in foal to him again.
