V is for Vinery

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 23

The Vinery brand is one carried by some great horses including this year’s leading Golden Slipper contender / Blue Diamond winner Artorius and Breednet owner Craig Tompson has been spoiled for choice while viewing the Vinery Inglis Easter parade in the Hunter Valley on Tuesday with Team Inglis.

Tompson is the analytical brain and mastermind behind the data that drives Breednet and has been the creative force behind the popular nicks information now incorporated into our site, so it’s no wonder his eye should fall on a colt at Vinery that is bred on one of those ‘Nicks that Clicks’.

Lot 416 - click to see his page.

Lot 416 is a Not a Single Doubt colt from Marvellous That, a More Than Ready (USA) mare that won her only start at Newcastle and is a grand-daughter of Group I winner Joie Denise, whose Group I descendants include champion mare More Joyous and Group I winners Tuesday Joy, Sunday Joy and Fenway.

The Not a Single Doubt over More Than Ready mares nick has achieved great success with nearly 80% winners to runners and 17% stakes-winners to runners. Five stakes-winners are bred this way headed by dual Group I winner Miracles of Life.

Everyone would love to get a first foal that looks like this one! Lot 63 is an Exceed and Excel colt from winning Lonhro mare Sanity, a full sister to stakes-winner Trim, who is the dam of Group III winner Manicure.

Interesting that Manicure is also by Exceed and Excel making this colt a brother-in-blood to the $600,000 plus earner and when we throw Group I winner Gatting into the pedigree, we see a very attractive page to match the type.

Fillies with family is something Inglis Easter is renowned for and Lot 421 fills that brief.

By I Am Invincible, she is the first foal of Group II placed Miles of Krishnan, a half-sister by Snitzel to Champion NZ 2YO and Group I winner Il Quello Veloce from the family of blue hen Parfore, the dam of Group I winners Terravista and Tiger Tees.

Vinery have been well pleased with the early results for their promising young sire Star Turn and will offer one of his colts as Lot 394 from terrific producer Logan’s Choice.

Lot 394 - click to see his page.

The colt is a half-brother to Group II winner Vanna Girl and stakes-placed Plucky Girl.
