Lofty Goals for Maurice Gelding

Mark Smith - Saturday July 24

The highly promising Silent Impact kept his record at a perfect two for two with a dominant performance over 1200m at Rosehill on Saturday, adding to the phenomenal late season run enjoyed by the first season stallion Maurice (JPN).

Since the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained gelding opened his account over 1000m at Goulburn on July 9, Maurice (JPN) has had four runners for as many winners.

Ridden by Tim Clark, Silent Impact needed to force a run between the leader Sir Crackle and Silent Impact’s stablemate Concocted.

Once in clear air, Silent Impact went to the line full of running to defeat Concocted (Written Tycoon) by one and three-quarter lengths with Vianello (Teofilo) a neck back in third.

“We went down to Goulburn to give him the confidence with exposure to the races . We thought the 1000m was going to be well short of hid best,” Bott said.

uo;He has the scope to get over a lot further – he is a really classy horse.

“A big thank you to (owners) Peter and June Dunn they have been great supporters. Peter spotted this horse at the sales in the Arrowfield draft. Peter gave me a call to go and pick him up. He has identified a nice horse that can get him a nice classic win.

“When we kicked off his campaign we had those races (like the Spring Champion Stakes) in mind for him.

“His pedigree suggests he will get over a lot further. He is a lovely athletic horse and I think he will excel when we get him over a bit of ground.

“I think it was quite important today to see him settle behind the speed. He was nice and tractable, and the exciting part was he showed a great turn of foot when needed.”

Silent Impact a $150,000 Magic Millions yearling

Purchased by the Dunn’s Dodmark Thoroughbreds for $150,000 from the Arrowfield Stud draft at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Silent Impact is the half-brother to Group III winner Reloaded and is the sixth winner from seven to race out of the Group 1 VRC Oaks and Group 1 STC Arrowfield Stud Stakes heroine Hollow Bullet.

A daughter of Tayasu Tsuyoshi (JPN), Hollow Bullet is a half-sister to Group III winner Last Bullet (High Chaparral) and the Listed VRC Ottawa Stakes-winner Red Hot Mama (General Nediym), dam of Listed winner Mama’s Choice (Redoute’s Choice).

Ciaron Maher Bloodstock purchased a sister to Silent Impact for $200,000 from the Kulani Park draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

Hollow Bullet was rested last year after foaling a filly by Pariah.

Japanese Horse Of The Year returns to Arrowfield Stud for the forthcoming season at a fee of $44,000.
