Pinhook Winners from Magic Millions Book 1

Tara Madgwick - Monday January 16

A strong market for Magic Millions Book 1 produced plenty of satisfying results for investors and six of the most successful pinhooks that made $150,000 or more in profit were by first season sires.

$1.1million Zoustar filly from Members Joy.

Topping the list of pinhooks was the obvious one with Newhaven Park presenting the Zoustar filly from Members Joy that was the most expensive weanling sold in Australia last year when selling for $750,000 to Cloverfield Bloodstock at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

The half-sister to Group II winner Pure Elation certainly developed in the right way and was sold for $1.1 million to Sheamus Mills Bloodstock.

John Kelly revealed there was plenty of pressure in preparing a filly that held so much expectation, but all’s well that ends well!

The next most successful pinhook was a Coolmore consigned filly by Everest winner Yes Yes Yes from Excellent Magic (GB) that made $325,000 when secured by Cambridge Stud.

The filly was bought for $100,000 from the Rosemont Stud draft at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale and is the first foal of Group III winning Cox Plate place-getter Folkswood.

Another first season sire to make his mark was Dubious who sired this $400,000 colt from Flash of Innocence that was offered by Kitchwin Hills and purchased by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbreds.
