In partnership with shareholders, Kitchwin Hills are thrilled to announce brilliant Group II winning Not A Single Doubt son Dubious will return to his birthplace of Kitchwin Hills to stand in the Hunter Valley this spring.
Dubious has covered well over 400 mares in his first three seasons with Aquis and his first crop of yearlings have been popular at sales this year selling for up to $500,000 and averaging $240,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale in January.
He has nearly 100 rising two year-olds to run for him next season and 45 are eligible for the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, a race in which Dubious finished second to Exhilarates after winning the Group III ATC Breeders Plate on debut.
“Kitchwin Hills forged a reputation for being one of the Hunter’s best thoroughbred nurseries and we are incredibly excited about our partnership with Dubious. We see his move to the Hunter Valley as giving him the best chance possible to become the heir apparent to his sire Not A Single Doubt,” said Jonathan Davies of Aquis Stallions.
The arrival of Dubious in the Hunter Valley will give breeders another opportunity to access the blood of champion sire Not a Single Doubt, who is establishing quite a legacy as a sire of sires, notably through his champion son Extreme Choice.
The most expensive sire in Australia, Extreme Choice has an exceptional stakes-winner to runner strike rate and already has a Golden Slipper winning son at stud in Stay Inside, while another Golden Slipper winning colt Farnan (Not a Single Doubt) is another prime candidate to enhance this burgeoning sire dynasty.
“Not A Single Doubt’s legacy in Australia has been immense. We have had such respect for the stallion for the last 15 years and watching his legacy grow through his sons and daughters at stud is just amazing,” said Mick Malone of Kitchwin Hills.
“We have always loved his progeny, we were lucky enough to raise Dubious and sell him as a yearling, so to obtain him to stand at stud just as his first 2yo’s are about to explode is a great opportunity for Kitchwin and everyone involved.”
Kitchwin Hills sold the second highest priced yearling by Dubious this year when their colt from Flash of Innocence sold for $400,000 to Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott Racing/Kestrel Thoroughbred at Magic Millions.
“He was just a spitting image of Dubious. In looks and attitude, he just screamed a tough, hardy racehorse… just like Dubious and Not A Single Doubt were,” said Malone.
“I reckon I’ve seen around 50 and we purchased two, but we were beaten on many other Dubious yearlings at the sales this year and I can honestly say whether it be action, shape, overall athleticism and attitude, they’ve all had something that has appealed.
“Type is so important in our industry and so often it seems you can send 10 mares to a stallion and get five foals you like and five you don’t. But, if you think about a stallion like Vinnie for instance, you send 10 mares and get eight you love.
“I really believe Dubious is in that mould for producing type and we know the rewards for that in the sale ring.”
With a large number of Breeding Right holders and Shareholders in place, available nominations are somewhat limited so his book will fill quickly.
