Ridden by James McDonald for Chris Waller, Rediener had no sooner fought off the challenge of Soothsayer when he came under attack from Yellow Brick, who had taken some time in building into his work.

Rediener hung on to defeat the top-class The Mission gelding Yellow Brick by a head, with the Divine Prophet gelding Soothsayer a short-head back in third.

A three-quarter brother to Snitzel, Rediener earned his trip to Brisbane with a dominant win at Rosehill. The 3yo son of Redoute’s Choice advances his record to four wins, a second and three thirds from 12 starts, with earnings of $354,900.

“He’s learnt to be a winner this preparation and hasn’t looked back,” Waller said.

“He’s gone from one step, and today was another big step again.

“James rode him beautifully from a good draw, which made all the difference. In another few bounds, the favourite might have got us, but he got the job done.”

“His mum was a pretty fast horse. I think a mile or something like that mark.”

Besides Snitzel, Snippets’ Lass is the dam of Group III AJC Skyline Stakes winner and successful stallion Hinchinbrook (Fastnet Rock) and Group III SAJC Janz Stakes winner Viennese (Redoute’s Choice).

Weiner died in April 2022, and her final foal is a yearling colt by Fastnet Rock.

From the final crop of twenty-three live foals by Redoute’s Choice, Rediener is his 182nd stakes-winner and comes a week after Petronius opened his stakes account in the BRC Lightning Handicap.
