$1.4Million for Espionage Half-Sister by Snitzel

Tara Madgwick - Friday January 12

Baramul Stud sold a cracking Zoustar colt from In Times of War at Magic Millions last year for $1million to James Harron Bloodstock and he came out and won the Group III ATC Breeders Plate on debut last spring putting the spotlight well and truly on his yearling half-sister by Snitzel who made $1.4million on Friday.

A stylish chestnut from a daughter of Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Military Rose, she was purchased by TFI/Moody Racing Pty Ltd and Peter Moody has high hopes for the expensive filly.

“It was too much money but we hope she can run and justify it,” said Moody.

“The medium-sized Snitzel’s which are generally the runners, a half to a Breeders’ Plate winner and this filly has the attributes that we’d like to think she’ll be going around in those early two-year-old races as well in the hope that we might have her back up here next year.

“She has handled the day very well. She paraded terrific out the back. It got a bit warm out there and great to see their attitude when they’re presented to a foreign environment and she coped with it really well.

“Doesn’t make them run but it makes you feel better particularly when you have to pay that amount for them.

“She is from a lovely family and Jerry and the team at Baramul have done a great job and we’re hoping Katherine and I and the team can have a bit of luck with her at Pakenham.”

$1.4million Snitzel filly from In Times of War.

The highest priced Snitzel filly so far at this sale, she will race for a syndicate with TFI the major shareholder in her ownership.

In Times of War produced a colt last spring by Espionage’s sire Zoustar and is back in foal again to Widden Stud’s champion sire.
