New Stakes-Winner for Nicconi

Tara Madgwick - Sunday February 4

A savvy $30,000 purchase for WA trainer Simon Miller from the 2021 Inglis Australian Weanling Sale, three year-old Nicconi filly Petula gained a valuable Black Type  victory on Sunday at Bunbury when taking out the $125,000 Listed WA Breeders Classic (1208m).

Fourth in a Listed race at Ascot last November, Petula has been making steady progress and scored a long neck win taking her overall record to three wins from seven starts with prizemoney topping $165,000.

She stormed home from back in the field under a well-timed ride from Pat Carbery and there are more wins in store.

Consigned by Macquarie Stud, Petula is the first winner from Run Sally Run, a five time winner by Ready’s Image (USA) from a family barren of Black Type for the first four dams.

She is the 29th stakes-winner for Nicconi, who has seven entries for Inglis Classic, 16 for Inglis Premier and eight for Magic Millions Adelaide..
