Second Stakes-winner for Palace Pier

Tara Madgwick - Friday August 22

Kingman’s champion son Palace Pier (GB) only shuttled for one season to Darley Australia with his first 2YO’s to race here this season and in Europe he’s doing a pretty good job with his second stakes-winner emerging overnight at York.

Trained by Ed Walker and ridden by William Buick, Royal Fixation powered to the line from back in the field to win by a length and has the overall record of two wins and a second from three starts.

“We've always thought a lot of Royal Fixation. She ran a huge race at Newmarket and it's been a really long six weeks. You let her down and built her back up and hope you've got it right and haven't left her too fresh. It's been quite a challenge,” said Walker.

“What's exciting is that she still looked a bit green off the bridle. I think she'll go for the Cheveley Park Stakes (G1). She's quick and is from a very fast female line.”

Royal Fixation was bought by Opulence Thoroughbreds for 180,000 guineas at the Tattersalls October Book 1 Yearling Sale and is a half-sister to stakes-winner The Fixer being the third winner from five foals to race from Group III placed Kodiac mare Fixette.

Royal Fixation is the second stakes-winner joining Listed winner Morris Dancer among seven first crop winners for Palace Pier, whose fee at Darley in 2025 was £32,000.
