Smart Hello Youmzain 3YO Salutes – Brother for K1

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday January 21

With the Karaka Book 1 Yearling Sale set to kick off this Sunday, the Cambridge Stud bred and sold Prince Charge cast off maiden status at Randwick on Wednesday bringing a timely update for his full brother to be offered next Monday.

Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by Nash Rawiller, Prince Charge was resuming from a spell following an inconclusive sixth on debut in a midweek maiden back in September.

Easy in the market with two modest trial sunder his belt, Prince Charge enjoyed a perfect ride from Nash Rawiller travelling sweetly on the fence back in fifth and when the leaders drifted off the rail he grabbed the opportunity.

Prince Charge kept up a good gallop to the line to hold off his stablemate Kokatahi to win the 1250m maiden by a long neck.

A $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from Cambridge Stud for Curran Bloodstock, Prince Charge runs for Ron and Judy Wanless.

“It’s good to get a winner in theses colours for the Wanless’s and Nash was always quite confident as he is a nice horse,” said Chris Waller.

“He’s always shown us a bit of ability and just needed that bit of time.

“He’s by a good Cambridge Stud sire in Hello Youmzain and that is where we are heading tomorrow, over to New Zealand for the sales to find some more of these types of horses. When these NZ bred horses get to three and start to mature that’s when they come into their own.”

Prince Charge is the third winner from three foals to race from More Jools,a placed half-sister by More Than Ready (USA) for Australian Group winners Ninth Legion, Tsarista and McHale.

Yearling full brother to Prince Charge to sell next Monday at Karaka.

Cambridge Stud will offer his full brother as Lot 561.

Cambridge Stud are selling their entire yearling draft of 2026 at Karaka and included are nine by Hello Youmzain, a Group I winning sprinter by Kodiac, whose oldest progeny are just three year-olds.
