Star Thoroughbreds have had a hot run of success over the Tasmanian summer carnival and it continued on Wednesday at Launceston when three year-old filly Sanniya captured the $150,000 Group III Country Club Tasmania Vamos Stakes (1400m).
The Barry Campbell trained daughter of Stratosphere won the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes at two and has been beaten only once since then, coming into this contest off a last start win in the Group III Mystic Journey Stakes.
Ridden by Craig Newitt, she gave her rivals a galloping lesson as she strolled clear to win by nearly two lengths.
A $67,500 Magic Millions Tasmania purchase for Star Thoroughbreds/ Randwick Bloodstock from Grenville Stud, Sanniya has won seven of eight starts earning over $486,000 and has never raced outside of Tasmania.

She is the best of three winners from Lady Writer (who died in 2024), an unraced half-sister by Written Tycoon to stakes-placed Emily’s Girl from stakes-winner Wavishing.
Sanniya is the best offspring of Grenville Stud’s Snitzel stallion Stratosphere.
