One to Watch - Echuca

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 26

A three year-old gelding bought from the NZB Ready to run Sale last year and bred on the magic Savabeel x O’Reilly cross was an obvious ‘One to Watch’ contender when winning on debut at Echuca on Monday for the powerful Chris Waller stable.

Savagery was easy in the market, but travelled well in the run behind the leaders and finished off strongly for Brad Rawiller to score a half length win in the 1200m maiden.

Savagery was a $230,000 Karaka Ready to Run purchase for Paul Moroney Bloodstock from the Milan Park draft after he passed in earlier at the Book 1 Yearling Sale.

He breezed his furlong in 10.82 seconds.

Savagery is the second winner from Legless, a half-sister by O’Reilly to Group winners Oceanex, Amexed and Miss Aotearoa.

The Savabeel  x O’Reilly nick is super successful producing 18 stakes-winners at a strike rate of nearly 14% stakes-winners to runners!
