Next Stop the Blue Diamond for Rich Enuff's Dosh

Mark Smith - Tuesday January 26

After winning the Blue Diamond three years ago with Written By, Grahame Begg has another contender for the title with the brave Rich Enuff filly Dosh.

Carrying a 2kg penalty for winning the Group III Ottawa Stakes at Flemington at her career debut, Dosh led from the start and refused to let any pass her in the straight when winning the Group III MRC Blue Diamond Preview at Caulfield on Australia Day..

The Shalaa (IRE) filly Tayla's Moment was closest at the finish, beaten a half-length, with a short-half-head back to the favoured Frosted (USA) filly Frost Flowres in third.

Unlike the Ottawa Stakes where Dosh spent as much time going sideways as forwards, Rich Enuff's daughter went straight as an arrow here.

Begg said the filly would not start again before the $1.5 million Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 20.

p;"She is a well above average filly with two starts from two wins. She just puts herself on speed and travels very smoothly," Begg said.

"She had a fair bit of improvement in her today. She only had one jump out going into it. She is a massive doer. She eats as much as a five or six-year-old gelding. There is no bottom to her.

"She is very exciting. She gave 2kg away in earning a penalty for winning the Group III at her first start, which is not easy to do.

"This year the way the races are structured she will not have another run before the Blue Diamond. We will probably give her a jumpout or a little trial somewhere.

"She is all racehorse. I don't think the 1200m will worry her because it is uncharted territory for all of them."

Purchased by her trainer for $155,000 out of the Glenlogan Park draft at the 2020 Classic Yearling Sale, Dosh is the third foal and the second winner from as many to race out of the Shovhog mare Raise Up who was a 6-time winner in Brisbane.

Raise Up's dam Raise a Million (Raise a Crown) is a half-sister to dual Group II and Magic Millions winner Bold Promise (Luskin Star), the dam of Golden Slipper winner Merlene, dual Group 1 winner Miss Pennymoney and Group III winner Compulsion who is the granddam of Golden Slipper winner Capitalist.

After missing in 2018, Raise Up foaled a sister to Dosh on September 21 and was bred back to Pierata.

Dosh is one of two stakes-winners for Woodpark Studs striking Written Tycoon stallion Rich Enuff.

The seventh leading first-crop stallion last season, Rich Enuff stands at Woodside Park Stud at a fee of $8,800.
