One to Watch – Sha Tin

Tara Madgwick - Monday June 19

Deep Field was the champion sire in Hong Kong last season and he had an impressive debut winner at Sha Tin on Sunday that will be one to follow next season and was his most expensive yearling sold in 2021.

A $700,000 Magic Millions purchase from Silverdale Farm for Lindsay Park Racing/Andrew Williams Bloodstock, Packing Bole is trained by Danny Shum and was sent out a very short priced favourite for the 1200m Class four event over 1200m.

Ridden by Zac Purton, he made light work of the assignment cruising home to win by three-quarters of a length running up to the good impression he had created at the barrier trials this year.

Danny Shum declared him ‘a nice horse’ and will have plenty to work next season.

Packing Bole was the most expensive yearling by Deep Field sold in 2021.

Packing Bole was raised at Silverdale Farm and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Intrepidacious and this season’s juvenile metro winner Captain Amelia being the third winner from three to race from unraced Fastnet Rock mare Courageous Kitty, a full sister to Group II winner Anaheed and half-sister to stakes-winner Farooq.

Courageous Kitty is a daughter of Group I winner Rostova and her full sister Anaheed produced the most expensive yearling sold in Australia this year when her I Am Invincible colt sold for $2.7million.

Courageous Kitty is in foal to I Am Invincible, so Silverdale Farm will have great expectations for that foal when it arrives this spring!
