They Came from Around the World to See Mislead Capture the Future Stars Final

Mark Smith - Thursday February 29

The trips from Washington DC and New Zealand to Pakenham were worthwhile for the family of trainer Rachael Frost when the Shamexpress filly Mislead scored a hard-fought win in the $300,000 Sportsbet Future Stars Final (1400m) on Friday night.

Ridden by Michael Dee, Mislead travelled outside the leader Oh Too Good, and the pair fought out the finish.

Mislead defeated the All Too Hard mare by three-quarters of a length, with Fighting Sun filly Barby's Doll back in third.

"My brother came from Washington DC and my parents came over from New Zealand," Rachael Frost revealed.

"She has taken time to get it together and over more ground compared to those 1000 2yo races that weren't for her.

"There are not a heap of options for her in the next few weeks so we may back up in Adelaide. She does tend to lose weight, so we will see how she pulls up."

Mislead broke her maiden at her previous start over the same track and distance.

The Frost family homebred is the second foal of the Perfectly Ready mare Misstart, whose dam is a half-sister to Group 1 ARC Railway Stakes winner Donna Rosita from the family of Noor Elaine Farm's Group 1 Randwick Guineas winner  Ilovethiscity (Magic Albert).

Misstart has a 2-year-old filly by Puissance De Lune (IRE) and foaled a Grunt filly last spring.
