Coolmore have announced fees on their 2025 roster with the exception of Wootton Bassett (GB), who is confirmed as coming to Australia, but his fee still to be decided.
“The 2025 Coolmore Australia stallion roster is one of immense quality, that we are extremely proud to offer to breeders throughout Australia and New Zealand. We thought long and hard when setting our fees this year, with a strong focus on offering value to breeders. We understand that people are doing it tough, but we want to work with them and see them prosper. While many sales throughout the country have seen slight downturns this year, we have just witnessed one of the strongest Inglis Easter Sales in living memory, meaning that demand for quality stock is stronger than ever. The fact that almost a quarter of the yearlings catalogued at Easter were by Coolmore Australia stallions is hugely significant. We have three extremely exciting new additions to our roster in 2025, and some of the best up-and-coming sire prospects in the country, so the future is bright,” said Coolmore Australia Principal, Tom Magnier.
On the back of a brilliant start by his first crop two-year-olds in Australia, accompanied by his first Australian Group 1 winner during the autumn, Wootton Bassett will return to Australia.
His first crop is highlighted by Australia’s highest-rated two-year-old colt in Wodeton, as well as five other Stakes performers including fellow Group 1 performed colt State Visit. He also produced three million-dollar yearlings from his second crop, off a $71,500 service fee.
Tom Magnier commented on the significance of Wootton Bassett’s return by stating, “Wootton Bassett is the hottest stallion in the world at the moment and he is already making an undeniable mark on the breed in Australia. What is most exciting about him in an Australian context is that he has 100 unraced two-year-olds from his first crop and every trainer we speak to seems to have a good one. His fee is yet to be confirmed but will be announced in due course. We’re just excited to have him back again, as we see him as a Champion Sire of the future in Australia.”
In recent weeks, City of Troy (USA) and Switzerland have been announced as new additions to the Coolmore Australia roster, and they will be joined by the Caulfield Guineas-winning son of Written Tycoon, Private Life at an introductory fee of $19,250, read more about him here..
The 2025 yearling sales season has witnessed the first crop of Home Affairs yearlings sell for an aggregate total of more than $31 million.
The best and fastest son of I Am Invincible will stand at an unchanged fee of $82,500, following on from a yearling sales season that saw him become only the second stallion in Australian history to record two $3 million yearlings, the other being Redoute’s Choice.
Coolmore Australia’s Sales and Nominations Manager, Colm Santry states that, “Home Affairs has been extremely popular ever since he retired and the momentum continues to build for him. Now that his yearlings have been presented to the market, he has never been more popular. Keeping his fee the same as last year when he was the busiest stallion in Australia means that he continues to represent great value for breeders.
"Similarly with St Mark's Basilica (Fr), who has also had a phenomenal year in the sales ring with his first yearlings. The word on his first two-year-olds in Europe is extremely positive and that was reflected in some big prices at the breeze-up sale last week. Given how well shuttle stallions are going in Australia at the moment, we expect him to be very popular this season at an unchanged fee of $38,500.”
A trio of established proven sires So You Think, Pierro and Pride of Dubai continue the value theme on the roster.
So You Think and Pierro stand for reduced fees of $44,000 and $33,000 respectively, while Pride Of Dubai earns a slight rise to $27,500 as the current leading sire in Australia.
Coolmore Australia’s Paddy Oman described the proven trio as “no brainers for breeders looking for proven sires from outcross sire lines to kick off their young mares career.”
Oman continued, “Pierro and So You Think both produced million-dollar yearlings at Inglis Easter and have established themselves amongst the elite Australian stallions over a long period of time. Each of them have covered quality books of mares in recent years, so they offer significant upside at these fees. In the case of Pride Of Dubai, I can’t remember the last time a stallion in the conversation for Champion Sire at such a late stage of the season was standing for such a fee. He has developed into an incredibly consistent stallion, capable of producing genuine stars.”
Australia’s most popular first season sire of 2024 and regally-bred Golden Slipper winner, Shinzo will stand for an unchanged fee of $55,000, while another Golden Slipper-performed speed son of Snitzel in Best of Bordeaux will stand for $13,750.
Fellow top-class two-year-olds, King’s Legacy and Acrobat will stand for $16,500 and $11,000 respectively.
