Fifth Stakes-Winner for American Pharoah

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 3

The 2020 Inglis Classic Yearling starting this Sunday offers Australian investors the next opportunity to purchase the offspring of American Pharoah, Coolmore’s Triple Crown winner making news in the US on the weekend when siring his fifth stakes-winner.

The fifth SW for American Pharoah, Harvey's Lil Goil wins the Busanda Stakes at AqueductTalented three year-old filly Harvey’s Lil Goil gave her sire the perfect eighth birthday present on Sunday when she won the Busanda Stakes at Aqueduct to earn 10 points on the Kentucky Oaks trail.

Making her stakes debut at 1 1/8 miles on the dirt, Harvey’s Lil Goil broke a step slow and went wide into the clubhouse turn, but powered clear to win by seven and a half lengths.

"I would have liked to be second early on. I would have caught the corner the first turn," said winning rider Junior Alvarado.

"She outclassed the [field]. We've always been pretty high on her and she showed up. She's more advanced physically than mentally, but eventually she'll catch up with that and hopefully keep moving forward."

Trained by Bill Mott for the estate of her breeder Harvey Clarke and co-owner Paul Braverman, Harvey’s Lil Goil has the overall record of two wins from just three starts.

Harvey’s Lil Goil’s is the third winner from Gloria S, a half-sister by Tapit to Champion 3-Year-Old and Kentucky Derby winner I’ll Have Another and Grade III winner Golden Award.

The leading North American First Crop Sire for 2019, American Pharoah has sired 30 winners that include 14 stakes horses headed by Group II winners Four Wheel Drive and Sweet Melania, French Group III winner Maven, Saratoga stakes-winner Another Miracle and now Aqueduct stakes-winner Harvey’s Lil Goil.

His progeny excel on all surfaces and particularly on turf, winning in seven different countries, proving adaptable and highly trainable.
